Why are we inviting you to join us in Guatemala, on Lake Atitlan?

The country of Guatemala is a swirling mixture of enchantment and heart ache.

You will feel the enchantment the moment you begin descending the mountain roads down into the sacred valley bowl where Lake Atitlan resides. The trees, birds, and volcanoes begin speaking to you, calling you to relax and receive the beauty all around you.

This land of incredible natural beauty is also home to some of the world’s richest cultural beauty. The indigenous Mayan people, composed of a vast diversity of languages, customs, and lineages are the honorable stewards of this land. These deeply soulful humans still live close to the land and many still carry on their ancestral traditions. 

This land of enchantment can also bring on heart ache. Poverty, addiction, and environmental degradation are some of the primary challenges in Guatemala. 

Inviting you to join us in Guatemala is an invitation to feel the full spectrum of this land - the enchantment and the heart ache - and to connect your own healing journey to the widespread healing of our Earth family.
The vortex of Lake Atitlan is ready to receive you and amplify your intentions. 

Staying at Arcoisis Sanctuary, we will have some of the most expansive views of Lake Atitlan. High up on the mountain, nestled in a forest grove, with volcanoes in view, and tropical birds singing to us each morning, Arcoisis is a magical Temple space that will hold us and nourish our bodies and souls.

:: What previous experience do I need to attend this retreat?
No previous experience is necessary. However, you will need to fill out an intake form before being accepted into the retreat. You will receive this intake form in the welcome email.

:: What can I expect from this retreat?
We intend to go deep during this retreat. The days will be full, but not packed. We will be continually feeling the pulse of the group to know what’s needed. We understand that some of the most important moments of a retreat can happen in between sessions, during breaks when there is time to be quiet and integrate. We also understand that it can’t all be work. Expect ample time to be silly, as well as sacred - playful as well as prayerful. 

:: Do I have to attend every session?
At the beginning of the week, we will make some collective agreements, one of which will be to show up on time to all the sessions. This is to maintain the integrity of the group process. That said, when you are in a session, you will always be able to choose which activities to take part in. You are always welcome to rest, sit by the side, or even nap. If you feel that you need to go out of the session room or you can’t come to one of the sessions, we ask that you please notify one of the facilitators.
We support you if you need to step out of a session. Sometimes, saying No is actually the medicine needed in that moment. If you desire support, you can ask one of the assistants to step out with you.

:: Will my sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, political views, spiritual beliefs, lifestyle choices be respected in the space?
We welcome diversity. Whatever your sexual orientation, gender identity, race, religion, political views, spiritual beliefs, or lifestyle choices are—you are welcome.

:: Do you offer discounts? Can I come in exchange for offering you a product or service?
As a general rule, the answer to both of these questions is no.

:: I am in a relationship. Should I attend with my partner?
Get clear on your intentions for joining this retreat. This may be a wonderful opportunity to deepen in connection with your partner. This could also be a prime opportunity for you to discover new aspects of yourself, independent of your partner.
Regardless of your decision, if you are in a relationship, we highly encourage you to have a conversation with your partner about expectations, agreements, and boundaries prior to your participation in this residency. If you are not familiar with these kinds of conversations, please send us an email, and we can provide some resources. 

:: Will I have time for my personal work responsibilities?
We highly recommend that you plan to be free from work or personal commitments (like scheduled video or telephone calls) during this retreat. That said, you will generally have a spacious break at lunch and dinner times. If you want to know more precisely what those times will be, send us an email, and we will be able to help you. However, please take into account that our schedule is flexible and will be adjusted according to the needs of the group process.

::What kind of support can I expect to help with integration after the retreat?
We will hold an integration call on Zoom 1-2 weeks after the retreat concludes. 

:: How do I get to Arco Isis Sanctuary?
You will fly into La Aurora International Guatemala Airport (GUA).
When you sign up you will receive a welcome packet with information on booking a private or shared ride from the airport directly to San Marcos, La Laguna.
